The lessons learned in April were bountiful, but the most important one was this: when life hands you lemons, make lemonade. Living on the Amalfi coast, which is saturated with lemons, it’s pretty easy to do. Instead of the doctor’s appointments I thought I would be at, I tried to channel my initial disappointment into the freedom of having an open calendar during a beautiful month. I tried to enjoy the fleeting weather of April - warm and sunny enough to bask in the sunshine without burning up, and perfect for a spring day at the beach or hiking along the coast. Soon enough, the furnace will turn on, and I’ll be hibernating in my summer AC cocoon.
