Yummm I’m drooling. 🤤 Just saw that I’m getting basil in my CSA this week and immediately flagged it for pesto! I’m going to try that spaghetti too!

I friend from the Abruzzo region of Italy has suggested we travel in Italy together for a bit next year. I just messaged her that I must have a marenna when we travel. They look and sound wonderful.

I hope you take her up on it! In the rest of Italy, it's a "merenda" or a "spuntino" (Italian for snack). Marenna is Neapolitan :)

You have achieved the goal of this post: everyone who is reading this is now hungry Brenna!

My summer in Wisconsin is eating as much fruit as I can get my hands on but it's all imported. peaches, mangos, cherries, apricots.

Also what is turtle bread? exactly as it sounds?

Hahaha :) That is my goal. I am surprised that the fruit in Wisconsin is imported. Maybe because I just read "Tom Lake" and they are living on a fruit farm in Michigan. I thought the midwest would have good stone fruits :)

OK turtle bread is so cute. It's just a roll but they call it "tartaruga" because it looks like a turtle shell :) I love how passionate Italians are about food...

Two of the best sandwiches of my life I had in Italy, one in Florence and one in Trapani! With all their similarities, I've never understood why there's such a deli culture in Italy but not in Spain.

Here we typically bring bocadillos that we make at home to the beach, and once or twice a week we indulge having fried fish and seafood at a chiniguito (surprisingly affordable for a restaurant on the beach, but much prefer beach picnics as the norm). Enjoy that idyllic Italian summer!

Yes, I remember in Malaga there were little stands with grilled tiny fishes! I remember having a solo grilled fish on the beach there, it was lovely. Was it sardines? Is that a chiniguito?

I also remember in San Sebastian having the best bocadillos of my life. I love love love that low alcohol dry wine from San Seb. Txacoli?

Yesss ESPETO! :D I'm literally going to Malaga in a few days just to eat espetos haha they're like barbecued sardines that they sell at chiringuitos :)

And no surprise that you also love Taxcoli, it's one of my fav wines too! You need to try Vinho Verde (on tap) in Algarve if you haven't, similar flavor and I'm obsessed. You can get little jarras of it at some of the local restaurants.

I am now craving for some Italian food and I long to visit Italian beaches. I have only visited Italy once and I was in Rome then. So perhaps it is time to plan a trip to Italy.

This summer I find myself binging on everything berries! I love the ones from the farmers markets here in Germany because they are so fresh and delicious!
